Do you want to know what it really takes to get an internship in the oil and gas industry? Do you want to join a network of knowledgeable upperclassmen who have worked for companies such as Anadarko, BP, Chevron, Hilcorp, Pioneer, Shell, and more? Then apply to be a mentee for the 2017-2018 TAMU SPE Student Mentorship Program. In 2016, 80% of our mentees had at least one interview, and 80% of those students were able to convert those interviews into internship offers. Prior work experience is not required to become a mentee, as most of these students had little to no work experience before participating in the program.
By joining the Student Mentorship Program, you will receive one-on-one guidance with an experienced petroleum engineering mentor to cover the following areas to help you land an internship offer in the Fall 2017 Career Enhancement Event:
- Building a resume
- How to use HireAggies and company websites
- How to network and make the most out of a career fair
- How to interview
The selection process will be rolling admission, and mentees will be paired with a personal mentor on a first-come-first-serve basis. Requirements for the program are as follows:
- Must be looking for an internship for Summer 2018
- Freshman and sophomore status (during Fall 2017)
- Current SPE member
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (Freshmen can ignore this requirement)
